Oak Squirrel Drey
The Group opened Oak Squirrel Drey in November 2014 for 4 and 5 year olds with 12 children from the waiting list invited to the opening session with 2 existing adult members of the Group as section leader and assistant leader supported by the GSL and County Local Growth Assistant for the first two terms.
We were successful with the recruitment of 4 assistant leaders to help with the weekly programme and planning of the future programme and are also supported by 3 young leaders.
We held our first investiture in December 2014 with 7 Squirrels invested and further Squirrels invested during the spring term.
At the end of the reporting period, we finished with 9 Squirrels which has now increased to 14 Squirrels at the time of the AGM.
The Oak Squirrel Drey has been actively engaging it’s members through a diverse range of meetings over the past months. The sessions focused on various themes including nature, creativity, and community spirit, with activities such as den building, obstacle courses, and festive celebrations that encouraged teamwork and personal development. Additionally, they explored emotional well-being with discussions on feelings and kindness, and celebrated various occasions like Mother’s Day and Easter, fostering a strong sense of community among the Squirrels.
