1st Wootton Bassett Scout Group has three Beaver Colonies (meeting in both Wootton Bassett and Brinkworth), two Cub Packs, and two Scout Troops. All our sections are very active, especially the Scouts who offer activities ranging from kayaking, to hiking, to camping (and many more).
Scouting in Wootton Bassett was established in early 1910 and has grown from strength to strength since then. During the 1st World War the Group sent food parcels to former Scouts serving overseas, and a role of honour can be seen in our current building.
We have had several homes over our 100+ year history, but we now own the land and building. We acquired the land and built our own building in 1957, which was replaced in 1980 with a larger building where we still meet today.
