Supporter’s Review of 2016/17

Whilst this year has seen a number of new members join the supporters group, it was with great sadness that we have had to say goodbye to the group’s longest serving member.   Elaine had been a dedicated contributor to the supporters group and their fundraising efforts over the years and we would all like to send her family, in particular her husband David, our deepest condolences.  Elaine will be sadly missed, but we hope that we can continue her good work with the same enthusiasm and vigour.

As mentioned above, we have been fortunate to gain some new members.  Sandy, Paul, Ali and Nicola along with previous member Linda are all looking forward to bringing some new fundraising events, as well as continuing the much-loved favourites.  However, there is always room for more members, so if you would like to join us or if you have any fundraising ideas, please do let us know.

The Bonus Ball fundraiser has continued to make a profit, £726 this year, up by about £230 from last year.  The following numbers are currently available 5, 18, 20, 27, 28, 32, 37, 38, 39, 42, 46, 48, 51-59.  If you would like to join or would like further details, please contact Nicola or a Section leader.

We supported the Horseless Badminton Event, but the profits were down about £50 to £244.  We are planning to support this again in October, but if the profit margin continues to decrease we may have to review if our fundraising efforts could be better placed.

Lydiard Fireworks had a successful year, from which we received £2266.50, an increase of over £500 on the previous year.  A huge thanks to Sandy for countless hours organising, as well as Linda for cooking and all our other helpers.  We will need you again in November!

In December we ran a tombola stall at the Christmas Lights Switch On event on the High Street, which made a similar profit to last year, £218; however, we also raffled a photo shoot, which made an additional £100.

Finally, a new fundraiser, the Lego keyrings, raised a tidy sum of £77.95.

After the last AGM, the supporters made a lump sum donation of £3000 to the group and during the year contributed £1742 towards the costs of the repairs to the roof.  Over the coming year we intend to add a couple more fundraising events to the calendar, including car boot sale, silent auction and a charity cake stall on the High Street.  We are always looking for more helpers and new ideas, and appreciate your continued support with these events.
